While driving to work I was listening to the Gayle King show last week. She was talking about the inspiring story of a homeless man who raised over $9000 for a single woman who lost her job, and her home, and was on the verge of loosing her son because she didn't have a safe place for him to live. The homeless man, Curtis Jackson, went out and raised money every day and gave almost all of it to pay her hotel bill. He took out a little for food and bus fare for himself. During the show they played a clip of an interview with the homeless man. He was asked something along the lines of "You have nothing, nothing at all yourself, so why did you give the money to the woman?" His humble answer sent shivers up my spine and I have been thinking about it ever since.
His answer was simply:
"I have God. I'm one of the richest men on this earth, 'cause I have God," he said. "Money is not my master. That's what's wrong with this world: money is its master."
Wow!!!!
