The path we walk in the morning
was flooded several weeks ago
and there was some damage.
A few areas of the path
were altered a bit,
was flooded several weeks ago
and there was some damage.
A few areas of the path
were altered a bit,
but all in all it's still a pretty smooth,
enjoyable path to exercise on!
enjoyable path to exercise on!
The smooth asphalt shifted in this spot - just a bit!
Some chunks of it shifted a lot
leaving a rocky area in it's place!
leaving a rocky area in it's place!
(Notice the big chunk of asphalt off to the side?)
Pictures can speak a thousand words!
These pictures show the effects of powerful flood waters.
Symbolically, they also do a pretty good job of depicting
the effects of the early stage of Parkinson's Disease
on my life right now!
Having Parkinson's Disease has caused
a little shifting and some rocky patches,
but still my path is quite
but still my path is quite
smooth and enjoyable for the most part!
I know the probability of more flooding is high!
Parkinson's is a progressive disease.
Parkinson's is a progressive disease.
There will be further damage
which will make my path
more rocky than smooth at times,
more rocky than smooth at times,
and not quite as enjoyable -
but for now I choose not to think about that!
I choose to just continue to enjoy the path the way it is today!
Because it's my path - the one I travel on every day!
And most days,
And most days,
it's a very enjoyable path!
I just love your comparisons between the shifting path you walk and your shifting PD health. Your blog writtings are so insightful and discriptive.
ReplyDeleteDo keep up that exercise and positive attitude, because both have a positive affect on PD, seeming to slow the progress. I just wish that my wife would do so, but she seemed to just give up once she got the diagnosis.
Continue your walks, continue your fight, and continue your blog. That is where your strength is. Hugs, Dan (caring1)
Hi CM, I just love your blog, but most of all I love your attitude. It is so inspiring. You're doing really good. Just take one day at a time and enjoy it for the day that it is. It's easy to say it, but to actually do it is something entirely different. I intend to make an assertive effort to do so myself. As you stated, stay with the moment. Why go into tomorrow when we can only imagine what it will bring. Tomorrow will be here soon enough.
ReplyDeleteBlogging helps much with all we experience. Continue to write your thoughts and continue to communicate with others about your feelings, views and thoughts. It will help you live a good, quality life and make you happy to be you. You're going to be just fine, CM. I'm here for you. {hugs} Ana
Dan and Ana, Thanks for the very kind words! I can't tell you how much they meant to me. I so appreciate that you both would take the time to encourage me. :)
ReplyDeleteI am trying to stay focused on being positive. It's not always easy though and sometimes when my days are a little rocky, I find myself feeling down in the dumps. So I throw myself a little pity party, I cry, or get mad - whatever feels right at the moment, and then I try to quickly move on and focus on the good things in my life - which are numerous.
Oh wow… what a beautiful place you have to walk! That was my first thought when I saw the photos. I definitely want to come visit you guys now.
ReplyDeleteI'm just catching up with your blog again, and it was harder to read about your Parkinson's update. Why does this stuff have to happen to good people? I can only hope there is a purpose, or that you experience a miracle of healing. In the meantime, never let the damaged path completely distract you from the beautiful landscape that surrounds you—which is the gift of life and those you love.
Welcome back stranger Duck! Uhmm...naw I'll leave it alone. lol
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about your comment a lot lately! I really am surrounded by beautiful landscape, both physically and symbolically. The life I have and all those that share it with me are a gift, a very wonderful gift. Thanks for the reminder to treasure the gifts God has given me. I hope to always stay focused on the beautiful landscape that surrounds me.
Don't stay away so long next time!
