Last catch up post! June 10, 2012
Today I started my first Parkinson's drug - Selegiline (a MAO -B inhibitor) Most of you know how I have agonized over starting the meds journey. I finished all the tests with the PPMI study that they wanted meds free so now I have no more excuses. My last bit of denial is fading away. I really do have PD don't I???
I am just dipping my toe in the meds pond for now. I guess we will see how it goes before I wade further in. For now I am at peace with this decision. (Will see where I am tomorrow, lol)
My neuro told me I probably would not see any difference with this drug. So why am I taking it??? Oh yeah - the possible neuro protection potential. Will I ever know if it works or not? Probably not! I guess this is also a journey of faith and belief. A very long and hard journey I fear! Oh well - God does not seem to be letting me off this ride. So I will hold on the best I can!
Sending you a hug CM.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess this is my 'catch up' comment. Well, I say eat all the fried chicken, waffle fries, and chocolate shakes you desire… Just balance it from God's own smorgasbord of raw fruit, nuts, vegetables, fish—whatever you enjoy. These things are meant to be enjoyed, not stressed over, and you have more than enough other stresses going on. We have to learn how to celebrate life's blessings don't we, even when so many things are going wrong.
Thanks again for forwarding the uplifting email which Dan shared with you… I found something similarly inspiring which I'll forward to you shortly.
Love and prayers
Don
Though it's sometimes difficult to do, however we have to put some trust and faith in our doctors and the meds they prescribe. Hopefully, the new med does what it is meant to do even if you won't notice any affects. Perhaps it'll reduce or delay the need for other PD drugs in the future. Enjoy the weekend. Hugs, Dan
ReplyDeleteThanks Don! Balance is the key, isn't it!!! I am trying to stay focused on my blessings, but you are right - we need to celebrate them! I am going to take your advice and Dan's. Chick-fil-A here I come! lol
ReplyDeleteHi Dan! Yes, that is exactly what I am hoping and praying for.
ReplyDeleteI hope your weekend is going well too! I have a house full right now. 6 of my grand children along with their parents (3 of my kids) are visiting for a couple of days. Dealing with chaos, clutter, and crowds are not my strong suit these days. But I am enjoying my family and grandkids - and trying really hard to ignore the rest. :)
